Well, a year and more has gone by and I'm finally writing a journal.
Went to youmacon 2009 a couple weeks ago and I think it was the best one I've been to. Or at least the one where I had the most fun. There were tons of great experiences, but the best hands down was the Team Four Star panel. If you're a fan of Dragonball Z you should be a fan of these guys. Thier DBZ abridged series is absolutely hilarious. I waited in line for an hour and a half to get into the tiny panel room and was fortunate enough to be in the second row right by the screen where they aired their special, 'Bardock; Father or Goku Abridged'. Later on I was hanging around outside the hotel and ran into Takahata101, the voice of Nappa, who quickly became my favorite character when I was introduced to the series. I was just going to say 'hi' but we ended up having a conversation, mostly about being friends with far-flung people and he took our picture with his cell-phone.
I now have a favorite american(well, north american) voice actor. ^_^
Check them all out at TFSabridged.com you won't regret it.
So yeah, the dealer's room and artist's alley were small, but everyone was friendly and I had a great time mocking (in a fun way) the Naruto shippuden movie along with the rest of the room. C'mon, it's so easy to mock! And enjoying the epicness that is Shino.
Another high point was the MST4K with 'that guy with the glasses' and various others with names not as memorable. Sorry, guys! Anyway, an MST4K in classic style, with the profiles against the screen and everything. It almost made the chinese live action version of Dragonball enjoyable.
Dragon Pearls, indeed...
